Olivia Rodrigo is "60 per cent deaf" in one ear.

The 23-year-old singer joked people should always confide in her by whispering in her right ear because she is unlikely to pick up the detail of what she is being told on her other side.

Appearing on KISS FM, Olivia was asked what is wrong with her in reference to a song on her new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love titled What's Wrong With Me.

She replied: "There's quite a lot that's wrong with me.

"I'm actually like, 60% deaf in my left ear. So, if you were to sit on this side of me [points to her left] and try to tell me a secret, I couldn't make out what you were saying.

"So, if you tell me a secret, go right ear."

The Cure singer previously revealed her hearing difficulties were discovered at a young age.

She told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023: "I never knew until kindergarten or so when they're doing the tests on all the kids, and they were like, 'Oh, you're a little hard of hearing.' It's interesting."

But Olivia couldn't resist a joke about the situation.

She quipped: "One of my friends is this great photographer, Petra Collins, and she has really bad vision, so we always joke that I make music because I have bad hearing, and she takes photos because she has bad vision."

Meanwhile, the Drivers' License hitmaker recently spoke of how "normal" she feels when she is in London.

Speaking to the BBC about her love of the UK, Olivia explained: "I feel so normal here, very adult. I can walk to the pub and meet friends. It's a city where spontaneity is really encouraged.

"People are very social here, in a way that they're not in Southern California."

Olivia - who was born and raised in California - has even learned how to cope with the rain in Britain.

She joked: "It wouldn't be a proper English summer without it."

Olivia has been outspoken about various social and political issues in the US over the years. However, she's now decided to pick her battles more carefully.

The chart-topping star said: "I definitely try to be careful with my words, but simultaneously, the women I looked up to when I was young were really outspoken, and that was one of the reasons I adored them.
